Lynn Acker is battling stage 4 Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma, a very rare form of cancer, since 2007. Since being diagnosed, she has undergone 6 different surgeries, 7 cryoablations, and 56 treatments of localized radiation. She was moved into stage 4 this past January, as it continues to metastasize throughout her left abdominal and chest wall areas. Lynn started aggressive chemotherapy treatments in February and has recently made the decision to discontinue these treatments as she has decided that quality of life is better than quantity at this point.
For those who know Lynn, some of the words that best describe her are: charismatic, grateful, joyous, resilient, compassionate, determined, giving, and loving. When Lynn is able, she spends time singing on the Worship Team at Kingswood Church in Blaine. Her husband Tony carves time out of his schedule each week to help distribute groceries at our church's food shelf, "Hope for the Community," even though he works two jobs to keep his family afloat. You see, Lynn and Tony have 3 sons, Carter (12), Josh (10), and Zack (9).
